Winter Horseback Riding on the Grand Staircase |
Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument Horseback Riding! We offer 4 great rides through the scenic Grand Staircase region during the winter months. The Willis Creek - Sheep Creek Ride lasts 4 and a half to 5 hours. Beginner to advanced riders will enjoy several drainage, canyon, and narrows region with opportunities to see petroglyphs that ancient Indians left behind. Those who go Rock Spring's Draw - Paria Ride will enjoy a 6 and a half to 8 hour trek that also involves some hiking. Intermediate and advanced riders will follow the Johnson Hole Trail, a former stock trail. These riders can also enjoy the Rock Spring's Draw - Snake Creek Ride at the same price, but they will venture some of the way as the last trail but will break off from it to see an Indian ceremonial site, among other features like a rock that looks like a snake. It lasts 7 to 8 hours. Experienced riders can take the Rock Spring's Draw - Sam Pollock Arch Ride that lasts 9 to 10 hours. Experienced riders will enjoy a chance to trek through cedar and pinion country. Children must be at least 10 years old to participate in all of these rides.
